Why do people get so uptight about wedding rings?

My fiance and I just got engaged and we love each other so much. The ring he gave me is beautiful, and I wear it most of the time. My fiance doesn’t really believe in wedding rings and I wanted to have one, just because of tradition and the way i was brought up. So, now I have one, but I don’t feel that if I didn’t have one I would be any less happy that we’re getting married.I do take it off when I’m doing dishes or scrubbing floors or any other dirty project, but some people swear they’ll never take theirs off. I posted a question earlier about my fiance hiding it from me and asked how I could get him back for making me freak out (all in good fun, we’re both going to laugh about this later) and all I got for responses was “you probably hurt his feelings” and “let it go before it goes too far.” IT’S JUST A RING! Why do people get so caught up in it?
Not every wedding is the same…just because most people say “with this ring, i thee wed” and they choose to do a ring ceremony, doesn’t mean that every wedding is like that. I’ve been to plenty of weddings where couples decide not to do ring ceremony or say “with this ring, i thee wed”. does that mean “without this ring i don’t wed”? NO!
