I had a ring custom made by a husband of a good friend, and I asked for platinum. I got the rings todtay, and compared to my engagement ring, they look much more yellow, so I’m afraid they’re not platinum! I am so embarassed because I made a big deal about asking him to do this for me, and I don’t know if he did it wrong — I’m too afraid to call and ask.

So I thought maybe I’d ask the opinion of others before I call — what do YOU think is best (i.e. if it turns out its not platinum … which it probably isn’t cause he charged me $600 … should I just keep it and give it to him anyway? It won’t match my rings then, but maybe its better for a guy NOT to have platinum?)

Here’s the thing you guys aren’t understanding I DON’T WANT A DIAMOND.

If anything I’d like to have a M.F.Topaz and if anything diamond accents. And I don’t care about the popularity of MFT, and I don’t care if it “clashes” with outfits or not. I like it and I think it’s very pretty.

I was married August of 2005 and December 2006 I am awaiting the final divorce decree in the mail. A bad situation got worse and we do not speak to each other anymore. (Three weeks after we got married he told me that we never should have done that and it went down hill from there.) We do not have any kids together. He has nothing to do with me. I’m not really fond of the rings he picked out for me. The engagement ring is a bit scratched up from wear and tear and the wedding ring has our date engraved in it. I’ve thought about pawning them, throwing them in our new years eve bon fire, keeping them tucked away forever. I just don’t know what feels right. Maybe I could just sell the diamonds to a jewelry store and burn the settings. I’m trying to clean my life up and start to close the wounds and move on to better things. Any ideas would be great.

The rings are white gold. One diamond only on the engagement ring. There are half circles along the edges of the bands. There is a solid middle between the half circles that is etched. There is a matching groom’s band. We both have lost our rings and I would like to purchase another set if possible. We purchased at a Gold’s Department store in Lincoln NE in 1972.
