bethv_84 asked:
I was wondering if they could still be joined together to make a set? If so, will any jewelry store set them for me? Or will they usually only do their own rings? And, if/when should they be joined? before ceremony or after wedding?? Please help!

My sister-in-law says its the wedding band first on your finger then the engagement ring. I think its the other way. Which way is it?

sjbchapman asked: I had a ring custom made by a husband of a good friend, and I asked for platinum. I got the rings todtay, and compared to my engagement ring, they look much more yellow, so I’m afraid they’re not platinum! I am so embarassed because I made a big deal about asking him to do this for me, and I don’t know if he did it wrong — I’m too afraid to call and ask.
So I thought maybe I’d ask the opinion of others before I call — what do YOU think is best (i.e. if it turns out its not platinum … which it probably isn’t cause he charged me $600 … should I just keep it and give it to him anyway? It won’t match my rings then, but maybe its better for a guy NOT to have platinum?)

BellyBean asked: I like diamonds but almost every woman has one and therefore I feel they’re overated. I would much rather have a mystic fire topaz gem for many different reasons (for one I’m not a materialistic person and would much rather have something of sentimental value no matter what it costs and I’d like to have something “different” from the every day norm engagement ring), but my boyfriend says an engagment ring should be diamond.
I don’t think it should matter what stone it is, or if it’s an heirloom or purchased from a jewler, or if it’s $100 or $3,000, as long as the feelings represented by it are real and true.
Should I just relax and be thankful I have a man that is willing to discuss rings and marriage, or is this a point worth making?
I have told him why I would prefer not to have a diamond.
Here’s the thing you guys aren’t understanding I DON’T WANT A DIAMOND.
If anything I’d like to have a M.F.Topaz and if anything diamond accents. And I don’t care about the popularity of MFT, and I don’t care if it “clashes” with outfits or not. I like it and I think it’s very pretty.

My engagement ring is princess cut, total of 7 diamonds…so I need my band to have princess cut (square) as well. But the problem is that I need it to be able to be re-sized to an 11 or 12. Any ideas?

Not that I’m getting married soon, but I really don’t want my wedding/engagement ring to be diamond and I’m wondering if anyone feels the same way (for any reasons- mine being that the diamond industry is ridiculous) and what the alternatives are

in love with superman asked:
I was married August of 2005 and December 2006 I am awaiting the final divorce decree in the mail. A bad situation got worse and we do not speak to each other anymore. (Three weeks after we got married he told me that we never should have done that and it went down hill from there.) We do not have any kids together. He has nothing to do with me. I’m not really fond of the rings he picked out for me. The engagement ring is a bit scratched up from wear and tear and the wedding ring has our date engraved in it. I’ve thought about pawning them, throwing them in our new years eve bon fire, keeping them tucked away forever. I just don’t know what feels right. Maybe I could just sell the diamonds to a jewelry store and burn the settings. I’m trying to clean my life up and start to close the wounds and move on to better things. Any ideas would be great.

So I’m kinda confused..is it the engagement ring that’s normally all fancy and has the bigger diamond and the wedding band that’s more plain?

jolene206 asked:
The rings are white gold. One diamond only on the engagement ring. There are half circles along the edges of the bands. There is a solid middle between the half circles that is etched. There is a matching groom’s band. We both have lost our rings and I would like to purchase another set if possible. We purchased at a Gold’s Department store in Lincoln NE in 1972.

I am considering moissanite for an engagement ring..We are trying to save $ for a house and wedding and cannot afford the diamond ring I want. I would rather moissanite than a tiny diamond. I also feel better knowing its not a conflict diamond.
