We decided to tone it down after a week at Disney and tried glow in the dark mini golf. During the game we noticed that her wedding ring, a 16 diamond interlocking ring from Kay jewlers had about 2 diamonds that appeared white or glowing in the black lights. Thank you for all of your answers so far. My fiance had the engagement ring custom made using an online company. It turned out great (just too big), but we don’t want to purchase our wedding rings on line. We want to be able to see them in person first.

I think we live in a more expensive area, which is part of the reason I was curious about the average cost of rings. If the rings we’ve been looking at are a lot more than what seems to be the average, it might be worth it to us to look elsewhere.

Not every wedding is the same…just because most people say “with this ring, i thee wed” and they choose to do a ring ceremony, doesn’t mean that every wedding is like that. I’ve been to plenty of weddings where couples decide not to do ring ceremony or say “with this ring, i thee wed”. does that mean “without this ring i don’t wed”? NO!

The ring was scheduled on my homeowners policy and I have replacement cost but to replace with a comparable ring at todays value, it will cost much more! I had the ring scheduled at $2000 and it was close to 1 karat. Also the insurance company has a program whereby they send me discounted diamonds via Fed Ex to look at that they get a cost break on from selected dealers. The insurance company has an agreement with select dealers to send their loss claims to the dealer and in return they give the insurance company a discount on diamonds. The diamonds are all certified.
My main question is if I have replacement cost do I have the right to get my wife a comparable diamond in color, clarity etc. regardless of cost and is the insurance company obligated to pay for it?
