go to someones house and have them leave a diamond cateloge out and that would be an easy way to tell… or happen to walk by a store at the mall.. a woman always looks when it comes to jewerly. she will tell you which ones she likes.. but for me… i didnt want to know… what i got is what i got and i loive it!

Go to a Jeweler’s. They have all kinds of rings you can buy and help you decide.

when you pop the question you dont have to have the ring., but you can always go shopping for that special ring with her. you wouldnt want to drop the ring at the ballgame and possibly lose it. Are you going to ask her on the Jumbocam?

you could also get an idea of the ring (and whats in your price range) by lookingi at the kind of jewelry she wears (i like antique looking jewelry) and he found a ring that was “my style”
check out jewelry store windows with her
I accidently gave him ideas, when we went in to get a watch battery replaced for him….and while it took time for them to replace the battery, we looked around at rings. thats where he learned what i liked and didnt

Try to see what KIND of jewerly she already has - is it flashy? Colorful? Simple? Silver? Gold? I wouldn;’t ask her friend or family, because I know that MINE would probably guess wrong at what kind I would like. Most women like to go into jewerly stores to browse, so bring her to the mall. But no matter what, I’m sure she’ll love the ring because it’s something you picked out especially for her.

Ask her best friend or mother to find out. Most of them can slip it in there inconspicuously (especially a friend). She could say, “did you see so and so’s ring. I like pear shaped stones or whatever; how about you?”. Or, just take her browsing and see what she looks at. If you want to be really sneaky, you could go to the jewelry store before you take her there to walk around, then let her check out whatever and then go back and ask the salesperson what she said she liked.

Good luck! i’m sure whatever you choose she’ll love it!

The best way to find out is to ask her. My FI and I were in a mall one day and he said-let’s try on rings so I can get an idea of what you like. After we tried them on, I emailed him a few pictures. He took one I liked, had a jeweler custom make it, and whalah-several months later he proposed with a gorgeous ring!

Ask her friends, but only the ones that can be trusted to keep it a secret. And if all else go with a solitaire in a plain white gold setting, when buying a ring like that you are not paying much for the actual setting so you can take her to a jewelers to pick out a new setting after you propose. As trends are princess cut will probably be a winner because they are the most popular shape right now.

People forget what a jeweler really is.

Don’t propose with a ring. Go to the game, declare your undying love for her, and the cheers from those around you will be the crowing touch on the moment.

Then… go to a jewelers. No, not the kind in the mall. A real live jeweler who does diamonds for a living. He will have a store where you go and sit down at a table. He will ask you how much you have to spend (or tell him ahead of time) and will give you diamonds in your price range. You can pick out the setting together, the diamond together, and he will make up the ring for you.

This is how you begin to get resources for your marriage and future family. This man will become your jeweler. He will be who you trust to clean the ring, to get it checked, the guy you go to when you want to buy a necklace for her first Mother’s Day, the place you go to buy her a 10 year anniversary ring. This is so much better than relying on Jennifer, the girl who works on commission at the mall ring dealer.

You can make it much more than picking out the ring. You can show her your class and style by letting her know you are thinking of her now, and in the future.

Make the appointment with the jeweler on a Saturday. Take your future bride to lunch. Talk about your future together, give her a rose. Then go pick out the ring. It will be a moment you will always treasure.
