Hi, i have a 18ct engagement ring (yellow gold) and am due to marry next yr, my nan has offered me my great nans wedding band which as far as i know is 9ct, is it true the 9ct will ruin my engagement ring as its harder than 18ct?

I don’t know for sure about the ruining thing but you should find a jeweler that you trust and ask them.
If you can’t do that, I heard a fantastic idea today! Wear the wedding band on your left hand ring finger, and your engagement ring where ever you want, on the other hand or on another finger. A lot of brides only wear their engagement rings on special occasions like when they dress up.
If you get them soldered together, it will not ruin it. They say that b/c since the 9ct is harder, it will wear on your 18ct ring. If you get them soldered then obviously they wont rub and everything will be fine. But if you’re really concerned, take them into a jeweler and have him explain more to you and ask what options you have.
I dont think it will ruin it, different jewellers say different things. my jeweller says its a myth that its harder (through reading current information). the only thing is that 18ct is a different colour to 9ct - 18ct is a brighter yellow.
