I would like to have a engagement ring with a mystic fire store instead of a diamond?

BellyBean asked:

I like diamonds but almost every woman has one and therefore I feel they’re overated. I would much rather have a mystic fire topaz gem for many different reasons (for one I’m not a materialistic person and would much rather have something of sentimental value no matter what it costs and I’d like to have something “different” from the every day norm engagement ring), but my boyfriend says an engagment ring should be diamond.

I don’t think it should matter what stone it is, or if it’s an heirloom or purchased from a jewler, or if it’s $100 or $3,000, as long as the feelings represented by it are real and true.

Should I just relax and be thankful I have a man that is willing to discuss rings and marriage, or is this a point worth making?
I have told him why I would prefer not to have a diamond.
Here’s the thing you guys aren’t understanding I DON’T WANT A DIAMOND.

If anything I’d like to have a M.F.Topaz and if anything diamond accents. And I don’t care about the popularity of MFT, and I don’t care if it “clashes” with outfits or not. I like it and I think it’s very pretty.

Diamond and engagement ring buying tips?

March 11th, 2009
Olive Green Eyes asked:

I was looking for real advice from real people about buying diamonds and engagement rings, not just the information published by the diamond sellers. Also, if anyone has had a good (or bad) experience with a diamond wholesaler I’d love to know about your expereince.

Who buys the man’s engagement/wedding ring?

In the movies you always see the man giving the woman the ring, but what about his ring? Does he buy this too, or is it the woman’s purchase?
