diamond wedding rings
Kelsey B asked:

I recently got engaged and my fiancee bought me a diamond ring. However, I don’t know what kind of wedding ring to get. He says that they are supposed to be plain bands, however my stepmom has a diamond and matching band. What is traditional?

You get whatever you want. That is what is traditional. I am getting a matching platinum band with pave diamonds on it to match the pave diamonds on the side of my engagement ring.

Go try on wedding bands and see what looks best.

Plain bands are traditional, but many people opt for a different style nowadays.

Traditional is plain bands. But things and traditions change every day. I have a plain white gold band. Wife had the whole princess cut with matching band. My brother’s wife is the same but his ring is a band with crosses lightly etched on it, I’m jealous. The ring isn’t the big deal. Your husband and your love is.
Good luck and god bless. =)

Get the wedding band you want. Bands set with diamonds are very trendy right now, but you’ll not go wrong with a plain band either. I chose a diamond band because I had a smaller stone. However, my husband recently upgraded my ring and the diamond band still looks beautiful paired with the new ring.

It is traditional that the engaged couple talk about thes things and arrives at a mutually satisfactory choice, based on feelings and money, etc. And then, every one else should respect the couples wishes, or just Butt out.

The way the two of you want it is how it should be. If he says he wants plain bands, then by golly, talk to him…. sounds like he knows what he wants…. . After all, he started off wanting you. Sounds like he’s got some pretty good ideas… :-)
    Congrats… and best of luck.

Tradition depends on the heritage to be honest.
Ireland tradition had many couples wearing Claddaugh rings…. United States tradition had couples wearing plain GOLD bands… obviously traditions only last as long as the people who follow them have reason to. This is your wedding and the ring is something you will have to wear, not the rest of the USA. Find something that you both like in style so that they compliment one another and go with it, dont worry about tradition on this one.

Whatever you want. Look at pictures in magazines like “Modern Bride” if you’re not sure what you want. Good luck to you!

I would say what ever fits the personality…for example i like elegant and classic looks…my husband like the “funky look” after all - who is the one wearing it??

Me and my husband have matching platinum bands (his is thicker)

I used to want a diamond band too, but I preferred the sentiment of having matching bands.

I personally think that diamond bands would make a great anniversary gift for a future anniversary.

Gold is the traditional wedding band metal. White metals such as platinum or white gold are becoming very popular choices today.

If you want to go traditional go for plain gold band or the other option is diamond band which is the latest trend.
