diamond wedding rings
Tamara asked:

So I’m kinda confused..is it the engagement ring that’s normally all fancy and has the bigger diamond and the wedding band that’s more plain?

Yes, some people believe that the size of the rock is an indication of the kind of life you will have with this person. If they are giving you a little rock, it usually is because they can’t afford a larger one. So your life may be tight financially with this person. Some guys who don’t make a lot of money but are good at saving money, will wait and buy you a bigger one. Usually they are supposed to spend 3 months salary on a ring for you. That was the traditional way of doing things.
Today, though you can have a fancy engagement ring and a fancy wedding band. It is up to you what you want.
Personally, I have a middle size diamond and I am happy because it doesnt’ get caught on all kinds of things, and if I lose it, I won’t be very upset.

    Yeah I never understood.
Maybe cause engagement rings are always flaunted.
When you’re married you already have the prize.

Yes, traditionally the engagement ring was supposed to be worth one year of the man’s income, it was for two reasons: first, to prove he could provide for her, and second, so that if something happened to him, she would have something of value to sell if need be to provide for herself.
