And if so what are they called? I want to get rid of my engagement ring from years ago… and use the money towards my wedding with the right guy : )

yes, a pawn shop.
ya pawn shops
Look for a place that resells jewelry or a pawn shop. Otherwise Ebay or Craigslist are your best bet. Regular jewelry stores will usually only give you a little bit of money beacuse all they can do is scrap them.
A pawnshop will give you barely anything. If it’s worth $300 they’re going to give you $30 and then try to sell it for $500.
Try putting it up on Ebay, you can always set a reserve price so you won’t have to sell it if no one bids high enough. You will need to know the carat weight and the metal of the setting. You can probably take it to a jewelry store to find out if you don’t know.
Pawn shops.
It’s called a Pawn Shop!
Yes there are. You do not have to go to a pawn shop although you may get more money there-look around and don’t settle for the first place that offers you money.
I had several pieces of diamond jewelry and no longer wanted them since they were from my ex. I went into Philadelphia to an area called Jewelers Row. There are MANY jewelry stores there that are independently owned and not the mainstream mall type stores. I went into a bunch of them and asked the jeweler to look at what I had and if they would buy it from me. Most of them did look at it and all that did offered me different amounts. They said what I had was all stuff bought a mall type stores and are mass produced therefore the stones were not high quality. They said they would take them and use the stones as accent stones for other pieces and reuse the metal for something else.
I would say to you, take what you have to any jewelry stores near you and ask them, it doesn’t hurt to ask if they will pay you for your ring. If you ring is a good quailty you may get a good amount for it at a jewelry store.
Good luck
