Does anyone out there have an engagement/wedding ring with a nontraditional stone (as in, not diamond)?

Mine is diamond, but honestly, diamonds arent my favorite. I really like ruby’s or topaz would be pretty. Im not much of a diamon girl myself, but its what my fiance picked out, and he bought if for me with love, so I couldnt take it back for anything.
I got my wife a ruby ring for an engagement ring. She seemed thrilled by it.
I have diamonds in both my engagement ring and wedding band. My sister has a diamond engagement ring and garnets in her wedding band. She picked it because diamond is her birth stone and garnet is her husband’s birth stone. However, she is a little disappointed in the look of the set because the garnets are dark next to the engagement ring. The wedding band would probably look better with both garnets and diamonds.
I know quite a few people with non traditional stones in their wedding set. I personally don’t like diamonds, and don’t realy care if they are in my ring. My boyfriend knows this and has already picked out my ring. I have no idea what it is, All I know is I’ll get it sometime in the next month or so.
My boyfriend doesn’t like the idea behind diamonds (violent child labor that’s unrestricted by the US because of foreign country third-party miners… violent as in cutting off laborer’s feet if they try to run away). So I won’t be getting a diamond. It depends on what you like. A jewler once told me that sapphires are a good substitute.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind any stone so long as the setting was nice and simple… and if the gold was white or pink (not gold).
My rings are sapphire and diamond.
Platinum bands with inscriptions are best if you don’t like diamonds. On my wedding, we exchanged expensive watches! Signifiying an eternal life together.
I have a good friend who’s engagement ring was her husband’s birth stone. I thought that was a great idea. And she loved it.
You could do a colored diamond if you don’t like the traditional white diamond. They can come in ranges of colors, blue, pink, yellow, black even. If you don’t fancy that idea, you could get an engagement ring in your birthstone or some other stone. Also, there is the idea of having an engagement ring that was passed down through generations (his mother’s or grandmothers). That is what my mom has–my grandmother’s or great-grandmothers ring.
Moissanite is the way to go.. I LOVE mine (I don’t like the whole diamond cartel crap so refuse to support it) look below for the story on them…
My engagement ring is a platinum band with a ruby inset and two small onyx stones on each side. I think that diamonds are beautiful, just not on me.
My engagement ring is gold but i dont have a clue what kind of stone it is..i mean its like a diamond but I know it isnt.a diamond is way toooo expensive for my boyfriends pocket.I absolutely adore my ring, and personally I could care less if its real or not.what matters is the meaning behind it.
My engagement ring is a diamond, but my wedding ring has diamonds and a ruby in the center of a diamond. It is your ring so it should be what you like not what is traditional or what other like.
