What is this diamond ring worth? And what do the markings mean inside the ring?

January 9th, 2007
diamond wedding rings
information MAN asked:

As I was driving on the highway I notice an older female was broken down. I stopped my car and offered my help, after a few seconds I realized the car was simply out of gas. So I ran to the local gas staion ,got her gas and Put it in the car for her. After this task was completed she took off one of the many diamond rings from her finger and insisted I take it..after many of my declines and her persistency i took the ring..After awhile I began studying the ring. It has one diamond bigger than most wedding rings and four more slightly smaller on each side of thegigger middle diamond. Inside the ring it’s stamped 14 Karat and on the opposit side is a W. Dose this mean white gold??and is the karat identify the diamonds or the gold??

14 karat indicates the purity of the gold.
Take it to a pawn shop and ask them to appraise it.They may charge a couple bucks, but at least your questions will be answered.

Take it to a jeweler and they will tell you what is worth. 14k is gold.

K means the gold content in the rings.
    I don’t know what the W means.
The diamonds themselves should have no markings at all on them, if they do, they probably have been branded as “conflict diamonds”.

Conflict diamonds are sold to fund the wars in africa and are illegal to be sold in America.

i would say that is the gold karet, but why dont you go to a jewellers and have it valued, if its worth a lot you could get it insured or if you need the money sell it, you could try ebay to sell it to see what people will offer.

14 Karat is the gold, why would you think it is diamonds. I would guess the W is white, but I really don’t know.

the 14k is referring to the gold I’ve never seen the w i dont think it has to do with anything other than the company or manufacture stamp of the ring

I think it means 14 karat white gold. Why don’t you take the ring to a jeweler and get an appraisal?

It depends on the color and clarity of the stones to get the value. The inside means 14 karat white gold. You are going to want to get the stones checked to make sure they are diamonds! there is stones that are call mosinite. These are lab created diamonds. they will test as diamonds, but you need to get them check with a mosinite tester. but as for the value you will want to get it appraised which you need to be VERY VERY CAREFUL, so places will actually switch your stones. we have a pawn shop and i’ve seen this done from other places.DONT LEAVE YOUR RING WITH ANYONE
